The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Kingdom of Jesus Christ Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and 40 others from 9 countries related to corruption and human rights abuses. This coincides with the recognition of International Anti-Corruption Day and Human rights Day. According to the department, the Treasury is diligently taking action to hold accountable human rights abusers and corrupt actors from around the world including the imposition of sanctions on individuals and entities in the Western Balkans, Belarus, Liberia, Guatemala , Russian Federation, Burma and Iran. The US Treasury Department also said that for more than a decade, Pastor Quiboloy or Apollo Carreon Quiboloy was involved in serious human rights violations including the rape of women as young as 11 years old and other physical abuse.
In 2021, a federal indictment was imposed on Quiboloy for sex trafficking of young women in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ founded in 1985.
